Only weeks after announcing to the world that he was gay, reports are circulating claiming that Anderson Cooper is planning to marry his boyfriend Ben Maisani, whom he has been dating since at least 2009.
The ‘National Enquirer’ reports that the couple plan to wed in New York by fall.
“He’d been considering breaking the news [about being gay] since same-sex marriage became legal in the state of New York last summer,’” a source told the Enquirer.
“It’s been about a year now and he wants to get married to Ben. They’re totally committed to one another. They’re a very low-key couple who sticks to their routine,” the insider revealed.
Cooper and Maisani live together in Anderson’s converted fire station townhouse, and usually prefer a quiet low-key-life.
Cooper’s mother Gloria Vanderbilt, 88, has been reported to have been encouraging her son to marry, and adopt a child since last year, after the couple worked through a few relationship problems that resulted from their grueling career schedules.
Compromises were made, with Anderson agreeing to cut back on his trips abroad, if Maisani, would take fewer late night shifts at the Eastern Bloc, which is the gay bar he owns.
Anderson is 45. Ben is 39.
